My previous blog article is about the possibility of age reversal. Though the scientific research/experiment might continue in this direction, yet I believe we can slow down the aging process if we avoid STRESS in our routine life and simplify our concepts of HAPPY LIVING. Your happiness depends on the choices you exercise.
As your child grows up, you start worrying about his future. If he scores poor marks, you are Stressed. You fear he might not do well in his life, and end up being a poor man. Instead of asking him what he really enjoys doing, you impose your choices on him. Help him exercise his options. There are diverse/multiple career options available these days. By dumping your sickening, outdated formulae of happy, successful and prosperous life on him, you damage his personality.
You may encounter young students with heavy satchel on their back leaving their homes in afternoons for the coaching classes. A senior class student hurriedly gobbles food as soon as he/she returns from school, and rushes towards the coaching centers. This has become a way of life not only in metros but in small towns as well. A young child who gets up early in the morning to reach school. and returns home tired, needs rest. You are an irresponsible, insensitive fool if you expect a fatigued mind, body and sleepy eyes to stay attentive in the coaching class. If the student is unable to crack the various entrance exams, all hell will breaks loose. THIS IS THE SURE WAY TO TRIGGER STRESS IN A YOUNG PERSON’s LIFE.
And if it is otherwise, I mean if you’re lucky to crack the entrance exam, and granted admission in IIT (or any other reputed Institute) or A Grade Business School, you will be the recipient of endless accolades. Your future is secure. And by the time, you complete the Course, several Corporate Giants queue up to OPEN THE GOLDEN GATES for YOU.
THE CORPORATE WORK CULTURE
Long working hours, pressure, office politics weighs heavily on mind. You are like a racing horse whipped to run faster and faster, and you are continually made to suffer from a sense of insecurity. I don’t know about foreign work culture, but this holds true for India. Even on your weekly holidays, the bosses might trouble you over the phone. As one might not have sufficient time for the family, the relationships may sour. Relinquishing job isn’t possible, you have to pay EMIs for car, home loans. In such adverse circumstances, one might try to find relief in either smoking or drinking or both. Lethal combination of stress, alcohol, smoking, loneliness, humiliation may trigger untimely aging.
This is the time for introspection and make changes in your life. You have to decide your priorities, and make choices. What do you value most? I know a guy who gave up his corporate job and took up a Teacher’s job, another young man left the corporate job to start organic farming.
The following life style may prolong youth:
- NO SMOKING
- NO DRINKING
- BALANCED DIET, EAT FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
- PHYSICAL ACTIVITY like exercise, walking, running etc.
- AVOID STRESS
- WEIGHT CONTROL
- FIND A PURPOSE TO KEEP YOURSELF BUSY
- ENGAGE YOURSELF IN A HOBBY THAT GIVES YOU JOY AND PEACE.
- AVOID SATURATED FATS
- HAVE ENOUGH PROTEINS AND VITAMIN D
- LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST>>>MEDITATION
